I’m Amanda, a Year 3 Business Management student at Singapore Management University, majoring in Operations Management. My interest in fashion started styling my own outfits, helping at my family’s business, and following how brands build collections, and over time it grew into curiosity about everything behind the clothes we wear: how fabrics are chosen, how products are developed, and how they reach customers at the right time.

How I got here

At SMU, I found that I love the structured side of business: planning, tracking details and making processes run smoothly. Operations Management gave me a grounding in sourcing, production planning and supply chain, which led me to a Textile Merchandising internship at Eclat Textile Co. in New Taipei City. Working on the supplier side of fashion, coordinating samples, orders and timelines between international brands and factories, showed me how much careful work goes into every garment, and confirmed that this is the industry I want to build a career in.

Alongside my studies, I’ve led marketing for student arts and cultural groups. As Marketing Director of SMU ConnectChina and Marketing Executive of SMU SoundFoundry, I’ve created videos, designed campaigns and promoted events and productions. These roles gave me a creative eye and taught me to think about how products and stories are presented to an audience.

What I’m looking for?

I’m currently looking for internship opportunities in fashion merchandising, product development, operations and marketing, where I can bring together my operations training, supplier-side experience and creative skills.
